Blogger Chicken is a blog site I set up so that I can share my experiences with whoever wants to talk about chickens as a hobby farmer like myself. I live in the country in Ohio on 2 acres. I am raising these little ladies for yummy healthy eggs and fun little pets. Born/hatched April 6, 2009.
They might be ok to eat after three weeks, but that's a good time to hard boil them, the yolkwill be very flat if you fry them and they certainly won't taste that fresh. Store bought eggs could be as old as 1-2 weeks by the time you buy them. Buy local fresh eggs for the best flavor. Eggs picked right from the coop are awesome.
ReplyDeletewhoa! we were JUST discussing this at the grocery store. i've always eaten eggs way past the date.
ReplyDeletecute chicks!
Thanks Beth! You're a cute chick, yerself!
ReplyDeleteIf refrigerated, a chicken egg is good for up to 3 months. If not, it's good for a month. (in the UK, and many other parts of the world, eggs are not refrigerated) A fresh eggs will sink in water... old eggs float. Be wary of the eggs on "special" at the grocery... they're starting to approach that three month mark...
ReplyDeleteThanks Cam! And thank you so much for your guidance on getting me started on being a chicken owner!
ReplyDeletewell that settles it then.
ReplyDeleteYep, you don't want to eat an egg that floats.
